Marriage is a journey filled with so many lessons, and I’ve certainly had my fair share of lessons and continue to learn along the way.
One important lesson I’ve learned is that in order to be a happier wife, there are certain things and behaviors I’ve realized I need to let go of, and I’d like to share those with you.
What To Do If You Are Unhappy In Your Marriage?
When you find yourself being unhappy in your marriage, approach the situation by reflecting on the specific issues that are causing your unhappiness.
They can be communication breakdowns, unmet needs, recurring conflicts and unrealistic expectations. Consider the following tips which have been shared below to resolve your unhappiness in your marriage.

8 Things I Stopped Doing In My Marriage To Become A Happier Wife
To become a better and happier wife, these are the 8 things I did and you can learn from them too!
1. I Stopped Ignoring My Husband When He Hurt Me, Instead, I Communicate With Him
In the past, I would bottle up my feelings when my husband did something that hurt me. This led to resentment and distance between us.
But one day a question popup in my head, why am I choosing to be unhappy with my husband by deciding to bottle up my feelings and distance myself from him whenever he offends me?
I then realized that if I wanted to be happy in my marriage, an open and honest communication is crucial.
I now express my feelings to him calmly and clearly, instead of avoiding him or shutting down. This has helped strengthen our bond and help us understand each other better.

2. I Stopped Expecting My Husband To Be Perfect
No one is perfect, not even marriage is perfect and expecting perfection from my husband was unrealistic and unfair idea that would only lead to the downward path of disappointment and frustration.
I Stopped Expecting My Husband To Be Perfect and started accepting and loving him with whatever flaws he may have because that is what marriage is all about,
I also started appreciating his every effort to make me happy and I found that our marriage became more loving and less stressful. This acceptance has made our home a happier place.
3. I Stopped Expecting My Husband To Read My Mind
Your husband is not a mind reader, stop expecting him to magically know what you need or feel without having to say a word.
This will only lead to you becoming a hard-to-please wife because you will expect him to know exactly what you need, want, and feel.
If you want something from him, just simply communicate it to him clearly and directly, rather than just assuming he would read your mind and know what you want.
By expressing your needs and desires openly, you both will become happier and more satisfied in your marriage.
4. I Stopped Thinking Vulnerability Is Weakness
For a long time, I believed that being vulnerable would make me appear weak and that I should always put up walls in my relationships because they were safer.
But vulnerability is actually a strength. It has allowed me to open myself to my husband and connect with him on a deeper level and has also fostered a sense of intimacy and trust that we didn’t have before.

5. I Stopped Comparing My Husband To Other Husbands
Comparison is the thief of joy. I used to look at other marriages and wonder why my husband wasn’t like someone else’s husband.
This was incredibly damaging to our marriage and to be truly happy in marriage comparing your husband to other husbands must stop because comparison is a thief of joy.
As a wife you should love the unique qualities that make your husband special and find greater appreciation and love for him.
6. I Stopped Comparing My Marriage To Others
Just as comparing your husband to others is harmful, so is comparing your marriage to other marriages very harmful and pointless and always leads to the rabbit hole of “what ifs”.
What if we had more money?
What if we had a better car?
What if we had lived in a better environment?
Every marriage is unique, with its own strengths and challenges.
By focusing on your marriage and working to make your marriage the best it can be, you will find a deeper sense of happiness and fulfillment in your marriage.
7. I’m Learning To Stop Interrupting My Husband
I used to interrupt my husband all the time before, I would “but” before he could finish a sentence I guess he was going to say or don’t like and this made him feel like his opinion was not important or didn’t matter,
But I’ve made a conscious effort to listen more and interrupt less. This has shown my husband that I respect his thoughts and opinions, and has led to more meaningful and productive conversations between us.
8. I Stopped Being Unforgiving
We all make mistakes that may unintentionally hurt each other because we are humans and It’s not always going to be perfect and pretty, but holding onto grudges and refusing to forgive your husband only causes more pain and resentment.
By forgiving whatever hurt my husband does to me, I have been able to let go of past hurts and move forward. This has brought a sense of peace and joy to my marriage that I didn’t know was possible.
